Detour/Stop & Think
DETOUR is an alcohol and drug program for people under the age of 21. It is designed to gently but powerfully challenge common beliefs and attitudes that directly contribute to high-risk alcohol and drug use. The program goals are to reduce the risk for health problems and impairment problems.
Detour uses PRIME For Life curriculum. Prime for Life is an evidence-based and motivational prevention, intervention and pre-treatment program specifically designed for people who might be making high risk choices. It is designed to change drinking and drug use behaviors by changing beliefs, attitudes, risk perceptions, motivations, and the knowledge of how to reduce the risk of alcohol and drug-related problems throughout life.
The ARC staff are certified and trained to present the PRIME for Life Program. Each participant will receive a PRIME for Life Workbook and Certificate at the completion of the program.
Lastly, for any participant under the age of 18, at least one parent is required to attend a two-hour webinar. Parents will learn signs and symptoms of substance use, items used to conceal substance use and how to set boundaries and consequences with their children. Parents will also be provided with resources should they need additional help. *Parent does not attend the actual class with their child
Participants for this class should be under the age of 21 who have received an underage drinking ticket or possession of a controlled substance, in violation of an athletic code, are facing expulsion, or are interested in learning more about prevention.
Parents - this is a great class for your child to attend if you are concerned they are experimenting with drugs or alcohol.
COURSE INFORMATION
If you have been referred to take the Detour class, please follow these steps:
1. Register below for the next available class. If you have any questions, please email info@yourchoiceprevention.org
2. Pay the $185 course fee.
3. Complete the Detour class.
4. At least one parent/guardian must attend an online two-hour virtual education session for participants under the age of 18. Parent portion information will be sent out upon registration. Parent does not the attend actual class with their child.
5. After you have completed all the requirements of the class, the instructor will send out certificates of completion.

IN PERSON - Saturday, November 9th (REGISTRATION CLOSED)
1 Day 8:00am - 4:00pm
This will be an IN PERSON class held at our office in Pewaukee. Parent portion will be self-paced online. (Parent does not attend physical class with student). Class information and details will be sent out upon registration.
VIRTUAL - December 16th-17th
2 Days 4:15pm - 8:15pm
This will be a LIVE VIRTUAL class held over zoom. Both days are required. Parent portion will be self-paced online. (Parent does not attend virtual class with student). Class information and zoom link will be sent out upon registration, student workbook and syllabus will be mailed a week or two before class.
2025 Dates:

REGISTRATION INFORMATION
Payment is required in order to register for the Detour Class. Please click REGISTER and complete the required registration information. If you were provided a discount code by your referral agency, you can enter that at checkout.
Information regarding the parent component will be sent upon registration.
